August 2024 - Life Update

Harry Moy
It's too hot. After just a few days of ~30C heat, I'm declaring it's too hot in London. Every day has been a short shorts day and despite that, I still end up a sweaty mess.

🤓 What I've been doing
  • We both lost and won the election. The national result when very much our way with a thumping majority, but locally the result was different. We lost to the independent candidate, now independent MP, after a hard-fought campaign. While it's disappointing to lose, I'm grateful to have made friends along the way.
  • I've been enjoying the summer. After a month of hard work on the election campaign, it's time to chill with friends. And summer is the best time for that. Laying in the sun doing nothing, playing darts and having drinks, playing table tennis and having drinks.... having drinks. Lots of alcohol involved....
 👀 What I've been consuming
  • 📚 No One is Talking About This, Patricia Lockwood -  A story about being terminally online told in a style for people who are terminally online. Broken into two parts, the second part becomes increasingly emotional and a reminder of what it means to be human in this age.
  • 🎬 Before Sunrise, Richard Linklater - What if you spent the day with a stranger you fancy from the train? That's basically all that happens. And it's riveting. Although nothing happens, the chemistry between the two leads coupled with funny dialogue is enough to let the time fly.
🔮 What's coming up
America tomorrow! A long trip consisting of:
  • 2-8 August - Washington, D.C.
  • 8-11 August - Hartford, Connecticut
  • 11-18 August - Dallas, Texas
  • 18-25 - New York, New York
And after? Financially recovering.
