June 2023 - Life Update
Hello! It's the final month of H1 2023, the sun is shining and vibes are good.

- After fighting with Swift and SwiftUI, Nearly is finally on the App Store. It's only a soft-launch for now, we'll be pushing it a lot more in a couple of weeks.
- I've just come back from visiting Cleveland, Ohio. It was a wonderful time with friends in warm weather. And Cleveland is actually a great place??? Getting through immigration was a breeze (one minute!!) thanks to Global Entry. It takes me longer to get through the British border than it does the American.
📚 What I've been reading
- Jackpot: How Gambling Conquered Britain, Rob Davies - Â A sobering book about how deeply gambling has captured Britain and the problems this causes. And how gambling companies manipulate the problem. For example, gambling addicts are 'problem gamblers' who don't 'gamble responsibly'. They make you hate the player, not the game.
🔮 What's coming up
- I'll be in Paris from the 13th-18th for Viva Tech. Shamefully I've never been to Paris before, so I'm looking forward to exploring the city as well as promote Nearly. I might even sneak a Barry's class in.
- Monk Mode, it's shipping szn. Two months of planned sobriety and saying "no" to impromptu social outings. Let's build.
